Mark McGwire has every advantage. The best bats money can buy. The best shoes. Swing aids. The top coaches. And he’s even rumored to be taking steroids and hoisting huge amounts of iron to help him blast the ball even farther.
Mickey “The Mick” Mantle was 6 inches shorter than McGwire. The Mick weighed 55 lbs less. And yet, when it came to blasting powerful, “kiss-it-goodbye” homeruns, McGwire couldn’t come close to Mickey: Mantle's longest home run was 734 feet, McGwire's is only 545 feet.
