The Harris County Senior Softball League (HCSSL) has been in existence since 1981. Our mission is to promote Slowpitch Softball in the greater Houston Tx area for senior men and women aged 50 years and older. League games are played four nights a week (Monday thru Thursday). Conveniently located in the Bayland Park, where with year-round 50+ softball "The fun never ends".
SUMMER SEASON SIGNUP
The application is due at HCSSL (by mail) no later than March, 6th. The fee is still $120 for returning players, and $150 for new players. There is a $30 late fee for applications and fee's received past the March 6th deadline. League play begins early April, 2010 and concludes in late September, 2010.
PRE SEASON EVALUATION
The pre season evaluation process is conducted for several good reasons including safety. If you do not attend, you will not be eligible for the draft and will be assigned to teams in accordance with HCSSL guidelines regarding Late Registering Players. There is no guarantee you will play in the division in which you played last year. Players who have not played in the previous HCSSL Summer Season (2009) are required to attend the evaluation session on both Saturday, March 6th and March 13th from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Bayland Park Senior Softball Field # 2.
SUMMER SEASON DESCRIPTION
The Summer Season schedule is aproximately 50 games with no rain out make ups. Once the regular season concludes the teams will be scheduled for the annual double elimination playoffs, scheduled according to their season ranking. TEAM ASSIGNMENTS
The summer draft starts off with over 300 players signed up.
United Division Draft: The first six managers rotate picks until each has twelve of the leagues top players.
American Division Draft: Next, the eight more managers rotate picks until each has twelve of the of the leagues top remaining players.
Continental Division Draft: Next, the eight more managers rotate picks until each has twelve of the of the leagues top remaining players.
National Division Draft: Next, the six more managers rotate picks until each has twelve of the of the leagues remaining players.
Since this is Texas we start all over with a Winter Season Draft in late October. Yes, year round senior 50+ softball bliss!
